This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
It would really have to depend on the quality of the piece. Porn is a derogatory term reserved for media that does not take artistic quality into account.
Porn isn't trying to be art. It's just there to fap off to.
That said, there are no rules as to what is porn and what is erotic art. You can't say "It's art if you are showing a vagina and not a penis" You just need to agree to the consensus that the piece should be focusing more on artistic quality than just blatant sexuality.
Good point. Labeling and control is all designating what's considered pornographic and what's simply sensual artistry is. Just another way to place laws and beliefs on others.
I've been listening to a lot of George Carlin lately.

Sakurelf, I am completely with you on your critiquing of artists! A lot of them need it, and they could use help from an outside source. I'm glad you're making dA a place for GROWTH! Like a great big tree, we should be, constantly reaching for something better, always with the help of another branch, twig, or leaf. (Unfortunately, dA seems to be more like a weed.)

I'm stickin' up for you on the JAS thing. She cannot draw all that well in MS Paint (she should try other things), and ass-hats fawning over her constantly won't change that. I love how people get indignant when you courteously give them critique. Worse things have been said about JAS, and she hasn't responded to those. Crazy, that.
...Oh, and I like your art (what I've seen thusfar).
I ask you this as an honest question. What boost of ego or self-glorification comes from critiquing another's work? What self esteem do I gain from posting links to tutorials and telling artists that say in their profile -I WANT TO BE A MANGA-KA- that their work is not good enough to be published?
Nobody comes to my profile and says "Your work is fabulous because you sure told that 16-year-old girl what's what"
In fact, I get hate-mail and threats from a lot of my critiques because some artists get emotionally hurt from my criticism.
I make these comments to set the record straight and inject some reality into the over-glorified dreamers. Art as a career is MUCH different than art as a hobby. And in the business you won't have any friends to fawn over you and tell you your stick figure is awesome, or cute or "good enough".
Your art has to be good.
Not just good, excellent.
And not just excellent, but you need to be consistent, churning out quality picture after quality picture and varried. Fans don't want to see the same shit in the same pose over and over.
NOT ONLY THAT
You need to do this FAST. You are EXPECTED to produce an issue each month or two. That is not a lot of time for 200+ pages of images.
This is fucking reality. And if some 17-year-old twat thinks she can be a manga-ka by drawing anatomically incorrect "nagas" by shitting all over the canvas in Photoshop, she has it coming.
That is the business. I am no more or less cruel than a real editor. Deal with it.
Whatever reason you believe you have for your distinct lack of tact is a fallacy. You say you get no ego boost from criticizing the work of others. I highly doubt that. While your own art is nice it needs just as much improvement as your personality. Maybe you should try to develope both a little more before you blatantly rip into other peoples work. Anatomy and art is all based on perceptions
not necessarily reality. You don't like the work of others. That's fine. Don't try and make them miserable with themselves just because you don't feel they can be actual artists. That's not your place. Get over yourself and everyone will be much happier.

So listen up boy, or pornography starring your mother will be the second worst thing that happens to you today.
